Trek Madone 6.9 SSL 2012 Review
Trek’s most legendary ranges is the Madone 6 series, these hand built models have lead to nine of the last 12 Tour de France victories and one of the most well models within the Madone 6 series is the Trek Madone 6.9 SSL.
Unlike many models offered by other manufacturers cyclists can customise the Madone 6.9 SSL, Trek’s Project One allows riders to choose the model, colour scheme and components to create a bike that is unique to their needs. Every frame however has been made using the exclusive HexSL carbon fibre, which is only found in 700 series models and constructed through Trek’s 700 series OCLV process. This combination of luxury carbon fibre, a pioneering construction process and carbon BB90 has meant that the Madone 6.9 SSL has the lightest, strongest, stiffest frame on the market today, helping riders to effortlessly sprint up inclines, accelerate on flats and speed down declines. Riders can choose between the H1 fit and H2 fit frame designs on the Madone 6.9 SSL, the H1 fit is unique to the 6 series offering a lower hand placement for a more aggressive, aero position. Ride Tuned seatmast is included on Madone 6.9 SLL model; this unique feature can be found on most professional Trek models and is designed to provide comfort during laborious riding.
Attached to the high quality frame is a number of Bontrager features, include a Bontrager Race XXX Lite full carbon fork with E2 asymmetrical steerer. This asymmetrical steerer possesses an advanced tapering design that helps to increase the rigidity of the front of the bike for more responsive handling. The components of the Madone 6.9 SSL 2012 comprise of Shimano’s flagship Dura-Ace groupset. The Dura-Ace shifting system, with direct-mount front derailleur, delivers an outstanding shifting performance, while the Dura-Ace brakeset with STI levers offers precise, feather light braking.
