Trek 2.1 2012 Review

Trek’s dedication to creating affordable bikes that possess the latest technological features, which help rider’s to achieve their personal goals on the race track, is just one of the reasons why this manufacturer has a global following.

Part of Trek’s 2 & 1 series the Trek 2.1 2012 model is designed for cyclists who want all of the competitive features found on Trek’s high-end Madone models but with a more reasonable price tag. The Trek 2.1 possesses an advanced tube shape design, this design when coupled with Treks high quality road alloy, the 200 series Alpha aluminium, creates one of the lightest, stiffest, strongest aluminium models ever created by Trek. The rigidity and strength of the aluminium frame makes the Trek 2.1 ideal for competitive racing, while Trek’s Tour-tested geometry and H3 Fit not only ensures the Trek 2.1 has the perfect balance between strength, handle and acceleration, but enhances the stability and comfort of the bike, which Trek say only improves a cyclists performance. Coupled to the geometrically perfect frame is a Bontrager Race carbon fork, this lightweight fork not only lowers the overall weight of the frame but also provides riders with reactive handling at fast speeds. Trek have also ensured the Trek 2.1 fork is also SpeedTrap compatible, SpeedTrap incorporate the computer sensor into the fork eliminating any further aerodynamic drag. This compatibility is unique to Trek models and a fantastic addition for competitive riders who utilise bike computers.

Trek have fitted the 2.1 with a number of Shimano components, in particular Shimano’s 105 shifting system. Part of Shimano mid-level range the Shimano 105 shifting system offers a feather light shifting feel throughout the ratios, while the Shimano Tiagra 12-30 cassette offers fast and quiet shifts. The Shimano R563 crankset is a high quality component that encompasses strength and rigidity, this performance enhancing crankset will effectively transform a rider’s pedalling efforts into speed. Designed for recreational riders who are serious about riding the Trek 2.1 is stunning bike in many ways, its sleek design looks fantastic gliding along the road, while it’s geometric design and high quality components will help riders to soar up steep inclines as well.
